Bafana prospect makes first step towards America’s MLS dream
A Bafana Bafana prospect has made his first step towards America’s Major League Soccer [MLS] after signing a semi-professional contract.
After snubbing a golden opportunity to join Orlando Pirates, it appears he was following a biblical star to a promised land where dreams are fulfilled.
The exciting midfielder, Lusanda Nyathi, signed for Inter Wichita, a semi-professional United Premier Soccer League [UPSL] team.
At this point, the America’s Major League Soccer [MLS] appears far, but Nyathi could be poised for a meteoric rise considering his impressive statistics.
He will be playing in the American 4th division which consists of teams in regionalized conferences throughout the United States.
HOW LUSANDA NYATHI TAKES THE HUGE STRIDE TOWARDS MLS
Undeniably, this is a step in the right direction for the 21-year-dribbling wizard who has been Hesston College FC captain.
“I’m really excited to be part of the team. I’m grateful for the opportunity given by the coaches and management.
“Right now, I’m ready to give my best to the team on and off the field. It’s a really good opportunity to showcase my ability at a higher level.
“And prove that I’m ready for any other opportunities that may arise from this one. But overall, this brings immense joy and gratitude. I’m ready to give my all, work hard for a starting position.
“Most importantly I have to play my part in ensuring a successful season for the team,” Nyathi told FARPost.
Nyathi will be in Inter Wichita’s books for the 2023 season, though with an option to further extend his stay.
“As of right now, I will still be playing for Hesston as well as Inter Wichita. Our season at Hesston comes to a close soon and the Inter Wichita season pick ups as soon as the Hesston seasons ends.
“So it’s a lot of football but it’s what I love and I am keen to give my best to both teams,” Nyathi said.
LUSANDA NYATHI’S DStv PREMIERSHIP DREAM
Despite enjoying his stay in the United States, the Bafana Bafana prospect desires to play in the DStv Premiership.
And Mamelodi Sundowns is his dream destination. “Playing in one of the best if not the best league in Africa would be a dream come true.
“If I could have my pick, it would be Mamelodi Sundowns. They play fluid attacking football and are always competing to win the league and CAF.
“They have some of the best players South Africa has to offer and to be in an environment like that would be a dream come true,” he added.
