Siyabonga Ngezana explains his Chiefs turnaround in form

Kaizer Chiefs defender Siyabonga Ngezana has explained his turnaround in form at the club as he’s found his groove back.

Ngezana had the worst start to the 2022/23 DStv Premiership campaign. His costly mistakes at the back led to him being dropped after starting the first six matches as Amakhosi faithful called for his head.

After missing more than eight matches, he came back a different person and solid at the back.

The Chiefs academy graduate has been at the top of his game and has won Man of the Match awards on against Maritzburg United and Richards Bay FC.

NGEZANA EXPLAINS HIS TURNAROUND

“Going back to the situations and mistakes, I think it’s all about the mindset [that helped my turnaround],” said Ngezana.

“The coach believes in me a lot; I worked with coach Arthur [Zwane] from development. He knows my strengths and weaknesses. I also believe in him; I don’t want to let him down. Every chance I get to play in the first team, I’m trying to do my best.

“Going back to mistakes, I think I’m not the only player, it happens to best players. Critics are there it’s part of our business. They make us good, better players and not to be in the comfort zone.”

NGEZANA ON NEW ADDITIONS TO THE CLUB

Ngezana further gave his opinion on Chiefs new defender that will be joining the club.

SuperSport United defender Thatayaone Ditlhokwe signed a pre-contact. He thinks it provides a health competition and it’s best for the club.

“They can bring more players, it’s good for the team we want to put Kaizer Chiefs where it belongs.

“We know the history is very rich, doesn’t matter who is coming as long as it’s good for Chiefs. Challenge is there, it’s never been easy for me since I came here. There were better players, great players still here.”

FOCUS ON GALLANTS

Ngezana is expected to be in action when the Soweto giants host struggling Marumo Gallants on Saturday 8 April in a league encounter.

Chiefs will be aiming to stretch their winning run to six matches as they continue their pursuit of finishing in second, with Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United targeting the same spot.

Kickoff at FNB Stadium is at 8pm.
