Vasili Manousakis on what’s behind Richards Bay’s downturn
Richards Bay FC head coach Vasili Manousakis has explained what caused them a slump in form in the second round of the DStv Premiership.
This is their maiden season in the top-flight after they gained promotion for being the Motsepe Foundation Championship champions in the previous campaign.
They got off on the right foot, exceeding expectations and sat in the second position on the log standings for the main part of the first round.
Their downturn in form started in January and they have gone on to play nine games without tasting a victory in all competitions.
According to Manousakis, his charges dropped the ball after complacency crept in, in them.

“I certainly think there’s been an element of that that has crept in, there’s no doubt,” he told the media.
“Some players have gotten into comfort zones and thought we have arrived, we have done enough.
“And that’s what we’re trying to break down in the last two weeks if you understand what I mean.
“Break it down so that we can rebuild it. And as a you know, everything that you build, takes time.”
Manousakis says they need time to rebuild what they had in the first round.
He is hoping that the club’s chairman Jomo Biyela will be patient with them.
“So whether the chairman has got the patience or not, let’s see.
“He seems to understand the situation that we’re in,” he added
“We are now going to build and we are going to focus on building for the new season but without taking the foot off the pedal because the reality is we are not safe.
“So mathematically there’s still a lot of work to do.
“The games are running out but as I said, if I look at the 95 minutes I said to myself we’ve got something to work with, something to build on.”
