Arthur Zwane opens up about Kaizer Chiefs’ costly mistakes

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has opened up about the costly mistakes that always result in the club dropping points in the DStv Premiership.

Chiefs suffered a major blow in their chase for CAF Champions League qualification after playing a 1-1 draw against stubborn Marumo Gallants at FNB Stadium on Saturday, 8th of April.

The Soweto giants slipped to fourth position on the league table after dropping two crucial points at home.

Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United, who are also racing for the CAF Champions League spot, won their respective matches.

Pirates and SuperSport currently occupy the second and third spots, respectively, on the log with 43 points. Chiefs remains fourth with 41 points with only five matches left before the conclusion of the season.

ARTHUR ZWANE WORRIED ABOUT KAIZER CHIEFS’ DEFENSIVE ERRORS

Chiefs have been conceding goals from their defensive errors, and Zwane has admitted it worries him and his technical team.

“It does worry us as a technical team when you look at how we concede goals,” Zwane told the media.

“Actually, 70% if not 80% of goals we conceded were like these [defensive errors], 20% I’ll give it to oppositions to say they unlocked us and were superior.

“But when you look at this, we’ve been talking about it since the beginning of the season, we concede goals and make very costly mistakes.

“We’ve conceded a lot of goals unnecessarily, so as a coach, what do you do? Do you give up on your players? I can’t give up. I will have to keep working on this to change their mindset and ensure we keep moving and get it right,” Zwane added.

With a draw against Marumo Gallants, Chiefs saw their five-match winning streak in all competitions end.
