Burnley podcaster discusses Lyle Foster’s pedigree for the Premier League

A Burnley FC podcaster has cast the spotlight on South Africa international Lyle Foster, discussing his pedigree to play in the English Premier League next season.

This comes after the club’s automatic promotion to the England top-flight three months after Foster joined them. The club clinched promotion to the Premier League with seven games left after a 2-1 victory against Middlesbrough.

The Orlando Pirates academy graduate switched to the English Championship side Burnley in January from a Belgian side, KVC Westerlo.

The Bafana Bafana forward joined on a four-and-a-half-year deal until the 2026/27 season.

However, his start at the Clarets has been slow. In 11 appearances in all competitions, the 22-year-old has two goal contributions [one goal and an assist].

Questions about Foster’s ability to do it in the Premier League have started to make rounds around the club’s fan base.

A Burnley fan channel on YouTube called TurfCast Podcast recently posed this question to its followers.

The motive for this question from the podcasters was motivated by Foster’s goal contribution since he arrived at the club.

The podcaster claimed to have not seen enough from former Orlando Pirates development player.

BURNLEY PODCASTER ON FOSTER’S PEDIGREE TO MAKE IT IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE

“I haven’t seen enough from him in the Championship for him to be more of a Premier League striker. I’m sorry I don’t mean that in any way to disrespect.

“He could be brilliant, but when we signed him, I thought right, he could have a good season now. But he has only featured about six, seven times.

“And he started two, three games. I don’t think that’s enough to say he is the main man for next season,” said the Burnley fan on TurfCast Podcast.

The other podcaster, however, seemed to be more optimistic. He hoped Foster would gain his confidence from the one goal he scored against Wigan.

“He’s been one of them, where you see glimpses, and you say, ‘yeah, finally, he is cooking into the system’, and then he has a bad game.

“But he got a goal against Wigan, so I’m hoping he kicks on a bit there,” said the podcast host.

Burnley manager Vincent Kompany has backed his January signing to excel in England.
