Khabo Zitha reveals Banyana versus Serbia prediction
SA football legend Khabo Zitha has revealed her prediction for the game between Banyana Banyana and Serbia.
Banyana will take on Serbia in an international friendly on Monday, 10 April at 13:30 at the SC FA of Serbia – Stara Pazova.
The game will form part of the preparations for the upcoming 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, hosted in Australia and New Zealand later this year.
THE FORM OF BOTH TEAMS AHEAD OF THE GAME
Since their 2022 AWCON triumph, Banyana have played four friendlies in preparation for the World Cup.
Desiree Ellis’ troops lost their first two friendlies against Brazil and Australia. However, they bounced back in the Turkish Cup against Uzbekistan and Slovenia, winning and drawing, respectively.
On the other hand, Serbia only lost once in their last five games, winning the rest. They also beat Germany, a nation that is ranked higher than them in the World Cup qualifiers.
Banyana legend, Zitha gave her prediction for the game, and predicted a Serbian win due to their recent form and the advantage they have over Banyana when it comes to experience.
ZITHA’S PREDICTION FOR THE BANYANA VS SERBIA
“I think we are going to lose 2-1, but we will definitely score a goal. That’s because Serbia is not an easy side,” Zitha told FARPost.
“We are preparing, it is not all about winning. The purpose of playing these games is to gain more knowledge and earn some tactics that we can use going forward in the World Cup.
“I think they can beat us 2-1 or 3-2. They [Serbia] have a tendency of scoring a lot of goals. Because I checked their profile and their World Cup qualifiers stream was very tough.
“They had Portugal, Germany, Bulgaria and Isreal and also Turkey. And I saw that they lost most of their games against Portugal and Germany. But they came back against Germany in the second leg and won.
“So, if they can beat Germany, is shows that they are a strong team and they are competitive,” concluded Zitha.
