Elias Pelembe explains why he’s still wanted even at 39

Royal AM attacking midfielder Elias Pelembe has explained why his services are still fit for use in the PSL despite his age.

The 39-year-old is one of the oldest players in the DStv Premiership yet he’s showing no signs of becoming rusty.

He believes he has gotten much better as he grows rather than going down.

‘YOU GET A LITTLE BIT SMART’

“I think so [I,m becoming better as I grow],” he agreed when asked by FARPost.

“And with me, I feel like there are things that physically I didn’t do and I still feel physically I’m in a good condition.

“There, I can agree with you [that I’ve become better] because you get a little bit smart.

“There are things that become memories in your mind just because you’re used to them.

“When it comes to the game, they automatically come. The game intelligence. There are things that come because you have been doing them for so many years.

“The more you get older, the more experienced you get.”

On why he doesn’t get unattached, he said many teams still want to have him because they know he gives his maximum effort.

Pelembe stated that he doesn’t take his job lightly just because he has played for big teams before. And that has been the secret that has brought him so far.

ELIAS PELEMBE ON WHY HE’S STILL WORTHY OF PSL FOOTBALL DESPITE HIS AGE

“I think for me, it’s because of the desire I have for the game,” he added.

“I’m that kind of player who wants to win when I play. I still have that desire of playing and winning.

“I don’t relax. So it’s easy for teams to come to me because they know I give all my best wherever I go.

“Sometimes you find players that played for big teams before and so now they’re playing for a team that’s little but smaller, they relax.

“So, I don’t have that mentality. I think I still want to win no matter the age.”
