Ex-Mourinho assistant bracing for the fiery battle of Zimbabwe

After an impressive start in Zimbabwe’s PSL, former Jose Mourinho’s right-hand man Baltermar Brito wants to claim bragging rights in the famed ‘battle of Zimbabwe’.

Dubbed as the battle of Zimbabwe, the clash between foes Highlanders and Dynamos has never been short of drama.

The last match between the two sides in May last year saw fans make a mockery of Zimbabwe’s PSL by their unruly behaviour.

HOW THEIR LAST ENCOUNTER ENDED

Dynamos rowdy supporters invaded the pitch and tore the nets while also attempting to uproot the goalposts.

On the otherhand, Highlanders fans relentlessly threw missiles onto the pitch, forcing the match to be abandoned.

And after a disciplinary hearing, Highlanders were awarded the match on a 3-0 score line.

However the fixture remains the Zimbabwe’s PSL biggest fixture, a different version of the Soweto derby between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs.

The two teams will clash for the first time this year in the Independence Cup on the 18th of April.

Their PSL clash which was set for Saturday was postponed to a later date.

WHAT BALTERMAR BRITO IS TARGETING

And Baltermar Brito expects his men truimph in the two matches. It has been all rosy for the expatriate coach so far, having collected eight points out of a possible 12.

They beat reigning champions, FC Platinum along the way, at the same venue. Last weekend they played to a goalless draw against Chicken Inn.

And Brito said: “If we had won the game against Chicken Inn, that would have given us a good boost for the boy’s confidence for the big clash.

“But it is in these times that you should show your true character and these boys need to understand that against Dynamos.

“There is only one score for us and that is winning. We will be at home and we should win. It’s the battle of Zimbabwe and we should win it. We should do our best to win”.

Dynamos on the other end sit on third position with eight points on their tally. The Glamour boy have however been nervy in the last two games where they failed to score.

They were held to a frustrating goalless draw against Craneborne Bullets last weekend.

For Dynamos, former Bidvest Wits midfielder Denver Mukamba is expected to be their main man the biggest Zimbabwe’s PSL clash.
