Stellenbosch FC will miss the services of their three key players when they take on Mamelodi Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup on Saturday.
Coming from two defeats in their last two games, it is a huge blow for Steve Barker who has to deal with the headache of the line-up against the Brazilians.
STELLENBOSCH TO MISS THREE KEY PLAYERS
The captain of the club Dean Van Rooyen will not be available for selection as he’ll be serving a one-match suspension after accumulating four yellow cards.
He collected three in the DStv Premiership while one came in the MTN8 earlier this season.
This will be the first match that the 26-year-old misses since the campaign began. He has featured in all 28 matches that Stellies have played in all competitions so far.
The club’s number goalkeeper Sage Stephens will be out after he got a red card when they played Kaizer Chiefs on the 1st of April.
Stephens will serve the second of the two-match suspension as he didn’t play against Royal AM last week.
Lee Langeveldt who was in between the sticks in a match against Thwihli Thwahla is likely to return against Bafana Ba Style.
Lastly, Nhlahla Mgaga will not feature as he will be serving a one-match suspension having gathered four yellow cards. Just like Van Rooyen, he got three in the DStv Premiership and one in MTN8.
SUNDOWNS PLAYERS WHO ARE DOUBTFUL
Meanwhile, the Tshwane giants might be without Rivaldo Coetzee and Erwin Saavedra who are said to be nursing hamstring and knee injuries respectively.
Rulani Mokwena’s charges are looking to defend the trophy after they won it last season, defeating Marumo Gallants in the final.
Both teams seek to get back to winning ways. Sundowns haven’t tasted a victory in their last three games while Stellies lost their last two games.
