What Thomas Sweswe thinks about Thatayaone Ditlhokwe

Retired defender Thomas Sweswe has shared his thoughts about Kaizer Chiefs‘ recently acquired defence stalwart Thatayaone Ditlhokwe.

As the current PSL season wraps up, the Soweto giants are investing energies for the next campaign where they hope to get their glitz and glamour back.

Coach Arthur Zwane has made it clear that 2023/24 DStv Premiership must be different in terms of sustaining their title aspirations.

To reinforce his team, Zwane has been busy on the transfer market, having signed defenders, Given Msimango and Thatayaone Ditlhokwe.

The duo will join Amakhosi at the end of the current season from TS Galaxy and SuperSport United respectively.

Zwane also acquired the services of highly-rated Mduduzi Mdantsane from Cape Town City.

However, it is Ditlhokwe, a left-footed centre-back, who has excited club faithful along with the retired defender Thomas Sweswe.

WHY THATAYAONE DITLHOKWE EXCITES SWESWE

“I applaud this signing. I have seen him play and there is nothing to take away from such a good player,” Sweswe told FARPost

“At the age of 24, he has a bright future. I can predict that he is going to do well at Kaizer Chiefs.

“At SuperSport United, he has done well. He will likely command a first team place under Arthur Zwane.

“Without doubt, he is going to add value to the team. He definitely makes the team stronger, looking at those already available.”

Sweswe thinks Thatayaone Ditlhokwe’s international experience with Botswana makes him more valuable.

“The defense department will likely emerge as the strongest part of the team. He is a captain at national team level [Botswana].

“That means he is valuable. He can do well alongside Siyabonga Ngezana or Njabulo Ngcobo.

“The only thing they need is to work on avoiding silly mistakes. Its going to be exciting to see the team next season,” Sweswe added.

This season, Zwane has been banking on Edmilson Dove, Siyabonga Ngezana and Zitha Kwinika in central defense.

And the arrival of Msimango and Ditlhokwe leaves him spoilt for choice, with Austin Dube and Njabulo Ngcobo also in their books.
