Brandon Truter makes bold Kamohelo Mokotjo claim

Sekhukhune United coach Brandon Truter has made a bold claim about midfield maestro Kamohelo Mokotjo following his performances on the field.

The well-travelled midfielder recently recovered from a long-term injury to link up with Babina Noko in the January transfer window from Major League Soccer [MLS] side FC Cincinnati.

So far this season, the 32-year-old has made seven appearances in all competitions. In those matches he has already shown his quality and what he’s capable of.

According to Truter further, Mokotjo is one of the best midfielders in the country and backs the player to return to the national team once he fully recovers.

“I’m sure if he continues on his part, he might get a look on in Bafana again. Hopefully, go to the [2023] AFCON,” said Truter.

“If you see the quality, I think he’s one of the big sixes in the country, deep-line playmakers. His attitude towards his work towards football is on another level.

“At times, some of his teammates sit back and observe him whether it’s on the field or off the field, in terms of analysis, in terms of ‘I need to do more, and I need to look after my game’. It amazes me at times because I don’t see it all the time in South African football.

“The quality he possess, I think it was evident against Maritzburg United. On our post-match analysis, he also said he’s not yet 100 per cent. I can’t wait to see him at 100 per cent because it was truly a great performance.

Mokotjo is expected to be in action when Sekhukhune travel to Gqeberha to face struggling Chippa United on Sunday, 16 April, in the Nedbank Cup quarter-final encounter.

Kickoff at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium is at 3pm.
