Former Sundowns Ladies mentor points out factors to UWC Ladies’ great form

Former Sundowns Ladies mentor, Anna Monate, has pointed out factors to UWC Ladies’ great form in the current Hollywoodbets Super League season.

UWC Ladies might have lost a game this past weekend against TS Galaxy Queens, but their form this campaign has been a scintillating one.

Last season, the Cape side finished in second place, on 68 points, 14 behind eventual champions Sundowns Ladies.

After eight games played in the 2022/23 season, UWC Ladies are on 21 points, one behind Sundowns, who are currently at the summit of the Super League table.

They are also the highest goal-scoring team in the league and have also conceded the least number of goals in the process.

Former Sundowns mentor, Monate, believes that UWC’s current form might be influenced by the longevity of years the team has had with coach Thinasonke Mbuli.

FORMER SUNDOWNS COACH, MONATE, ON UWC’s INFLUENCE THIS SEASON

“With UWC, their coach has been there with them, of which now the players and herself know what she wants and what she doesn’t want,” said Monate.

“And now, you can see that she is falling into her place. And that is what other teams need to apply, because one you know your team, the game plan and everything becomes easy. Not chop and change everytime.”

Monate also went on to point out the improvement in the league and how most teams prepared well for this season.

“This season the league is interesting because it shows that most teams have prepared so well. Sundowns has a loss, UWC has a loss, and also UJ has a loss,” she added.

“So everyone is fighting to get a better position. And I can’t say who is going to win the league this year. Until the second round that’s when I can say who is going to win the league.

“So far so good, everyone is trying, especially the teams that are currently in the top six, they are trying to do well,” concluded Monate.
