How the Marumo Gallants technical team are having it easy

Marumo Gallants interim coach Raymond Mdaka has revealed how the technical team has been having it easy recently.

Gallants are now in position 14 on the DStv Premiership standings and take on third-placed SuperSport United at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday evening.

A win could see them move to the top 10, a position that looked impossible a few matches ago.

The recent positive turnaround has more to do with the players and the sudden fighting spirit.

The players have certainly carried the club throughout the most difficult period in the past few weeks.

Speaking to the media ahead of the match, Mdaka has admitted that keeping the same players for such a long time has played a vital part.

Most of the players in the current Marumo team were signed during the era of the previous owner Masala Mulaudzi.

WHAT MAKES MARUMO GALLANTS TECHNICAL TEAM JOB EASY

Mdaka admits this has also helped make the technical team’s job easier.

“It might not be happening every time and everywhere. But sometimes when you have players that have been together for a number of years and worked together, they make it easy for the technical team,” he said.

“They know each other, they understand each other and know how to use each other. They know how to play for each other so it makes it a bit easier. But if you have somebody new, sometimes it takes a bit of time.”

WHAT MAKES THE PLAYERS STAND OUT

“The character, that’s what we keep preaching. You see we are working more on their minds. The mind of a person is much stronger than the body.

“So the character that we have established now at the team is great and it makes us believe that we can be out of this situation.”

The clash between SuperSport and Gallants will be the only league fixture on Tuesday, 18 April 2023.
