Chiefs receive major boost ahead of Sekhukhune clash
Kaizer Chiefs have received a major boost ahead of their DStv Premiership encounter against Sekhukhune United this afternoon.
Sekhukhune will welcome Amakhosi at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium, with the kick-off set for 15:00.
Dillan Solomons, who missed the Nedbank Cup quarterfinal clash against Royal AM last weekend due to health issues, has returned back with the team.
He is expected to start in place of suspended Sifiso Hlanti.
KAIZER CHIEFS RECEIVE MAJOR BOOST
“We welcome Dillan Solomons back into the team because S’fiso Hlanti is out,” said coach Arthur Zwane ahead of today’s [23 April 2023] game.
“We are looking for different combinations to make sure we get it right. There’s no room for mistakes, more especially costly mistakes, but football is football.
“There is no player that goes onto the field and deliberately makes a mistake to cost the team games.
“What is key for us is to win these remaining games. If we concede a goal, we are going to have to score two or three.”
Zwane’s charges are unbeaten in their last five league games, having won four and drawn one in the process.
Chiefs will be looking for revenge this afternoon, as they lost 1-0 to Sekhukhune in January this year at FNB Stadium.
The Glamour Boys are in the race for the CAF Champions League qualification. As things stand, Chiefs are three points behind second-placed SuperSport United on the table and winning every game is of paramount importance for Amakhosi.
KAIZER CHIEFS WILL ALSO BE WITHOUT SIYETHEMBA SITHEBE
On a negative note, the Soweto giants will also be without midfielder Siyethemba Sithebe, who is also suspended for a game.
Sithebe received his fourth yellow card when they played Thwihli Thwahla in their last game.
