Former Black Leopards coach gets new job in Zimbabwe’s PSL
A former Black Leopards coach has been appointed as head coach of a newly promoted Zimbabwe PSL club.
Rodwell Dhlakama takes charge of Green Fuel FC, a club based in the country’s Eastern Region.
Green Fuel FC had been under the tutelage of Bekithemba Ndlovu as head coach.
Bekithemba Ndlovu was sacked on Saturday evening together with club technical director, Lloyd Mutasa.
WHY GREEN FC HIRED RODWELL DHLAKAMA
In their maiden, Green Fuel have been one of the poor performing teams, having failed to register a single win in the first six matches.
They succumbed to a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Ngezi Platinum Stars in their own backyard.
Green Fuel chairman Fredson Moyo confirmed the appointment of the former Black Leopards gaffer, Rodwell Dhlakama.
“He [Rodwell Dhlakama] is taking charge, with immediate effect. We shall release a full statement with details in due course,” Moyo said.
Rodwell Dhlakama was clubless after leaving Black Leopards. He took over Black Leopards from Joel Masutha.
And he was demoted to be the senior coach following Johnny Ferreira’s arrival at the club.
Ferreira has since returned to Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivandila.
And Owen Da Gama is the new head coach of the Motsepe Foundation Championship side.
Black Leopards are in serious trouble of relegation. They sit on 15th position in the second-tier league after 27 matches.
Meanwhile At Green Fuel, Dhlakama faces an uphill task of turning around the team’s fortunes.
Among other players, Green Fuel boosts of former DStv Premiership players, Eric Chipeta and McClive Phiri.
Chipeta played for Chippa United and Cape Umoya while Phiri played for the now defunct Bidvest Wits and Sekhukhune United.
