Who are Arthur Zwane’s most trusted stars at Chiefs?
The 2022/23 season has been a riveting roller coaster for Kaizer Chiefs, but coach Arthur Zwane has had a few trusted stars that have helped him to stay afloat.
It is without a doubt that Arthur Zwane’s job at the Naturena is not entirely safe as the season enters the homestretch.
Arthur Zwane has been subject to scathing criticism from the club’s faithful supporters because results have been indifferent.
The former midfield ace has been questioned for his team selection and more often his tactical changes.
At this point, it won’t be surprising if the Soweto giants end the season empty-handed. But it is worth noting that they are in the Nedbank Cup semi-finals, where they will face Orlando Pirates [6 May 2023].
WHO HAVE BEEN ARTHUR ZWANE’S MOST TRUSTED STARS
And while, their season has been far from being rosy, Arthur Zwane has a number stars he has trusted more than others.
Only five players have been Arthur Zwane’s most trusted players looking at how often they have been deployed.
These include captain Keagon Dolly, Yusuf Maart, Ashley Du Preez, Zitha Kwinika and Kgaogelo Sekgota.
The quintet have over 20 appearances this season, in all competitions.
Captain Keagan Dolly has the most appearances, after being thrown into the fray 25 times.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns attacker has been a vital cog for Arthur Zwane.
Although he is yet to spark like he did at Mamelodi Sundowns, Dolly has contributed five league goals.
Dolly is followed by the impressive Yusuf Maart who made 24 appearances, with two goals to his name.
The trio of Ashley Du Preez, Zitha Kwinika and Kgaogelo Sekgota have played 21 times each.
Du Preez has contributed five goals and four assists while Kwinika has one goal.
The likes of S’fiso Hlanti, Siyethemba Sithole, Dilon Solomons, Caleb Bimenyimana, Reeve Frosler and Siyabonga Ngezana have featured for more than 15 matches.
Caleb Bimenyimana is the club’s top goalscorer with seven goals to his name in 16 leagues matches.
Meanwhile the likes of Eric Matoho and Sabelo Radebe have the least appearances this season.
The want away Matoho played one game while Radebe played three matches.
On the otherhand high profile players that include Khama Billiat, Cole Alexander and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo have been disadvantaged by injuries.
