CCMA to make ruling between AmaZulu and former club official

A former AmaZulu FC official has confirmed that he has taken Usuthu to CCMA after he was sent packing last year.

The ex-Usuthu communications manager Phumlani Dube was dismissed after he was found guilty by the club of having allegedly assaulted a female colleague during the Black Label Cup trip in Johannesburg.

However, he has refuted the accusations and feels there was a plan to kick him out of the DStv Premiership side.

He believes his dismissal will be deemed unfair.

PHUMLANI DUBE TAKES AMAZULU TO CCMA

“It was proven in the hearing that I did not beat her because she even agreed herself that I didn’t,” said Dube.

“But still I got dismissed for assaulting a fellow co-worker. And my question is what am I being dismissed for?

“I was left confused but that’s when I realised that this was personal. It was not about the alleged assault, they were dealing with me. They wanted me out of the club.

“So, I left the club in November 2022 but the matter is before the court because it’s on review. I took AmaZulu to the CCMA, and I’ve challenged this matter for unfair dismissal.

“It was unfair and unjust including my sanction.”

Dube was appointed by the club’s president when the Zungu family purchased the club’s status from the Sokhela family.

When he heard of Dube’s accusations, Sandile Zungu says he elected to distance himself from the saga because he felt it wasn’t his place to interfere.

SANDILE ZUNGU COMMENTS ON THE MATTER

“I was not there when it happened and as the club’s president I decided not to interfere with the labour-related process,” said Zungu.

“They must run their course and they did without my ever getting involved in it. Let’s allow the CCMA process to run until the end.”

Zungu stated that as the club they would respect CCMA’s ruling and so must Dube.

“The matter is in court, and I think us as Usuthu, we’d like to respect that,” he continued.

“And we will allow that process to run its course. I don’t know if he has lost faith in that process as he has called the press conference.

“CCMA must conclude whether the process was fair or not and us we are going to obey the law. We don’t want to be in breach of the processes.

“I didn’t see the press conference but please respect the fact that we’re still in the middle of the process that was initiated by him to take us to CCMA.
