How Peter Shalulile maintains top form, explains Sundowns legend
Mamelodi Sundowns legend Hlompho Kekana has explained how talisman Peter Shalulile maintains his top form at the Tshwane giants.
Shalulile has been consistent in his performances since his arrival at Chloorkop ahead of the 2020/21 DStv Premiership season from Highlands Park FC.
In the three seasons he has been with the Tshwane giants, the Namibian captain has been a monster in front of goal netting double figures.
Last season he came close to breaking Collins Mbesuma’s 25-goal tally in the league, but came out two short.
Currently, he’s the top scorer in the league and CAF Champions League with 11 goals and five goals to his name respectively. The red-hot form saw Shalulile reach a milestone of 100 club career goals.
KEKANA SAYS SHALULILE’S SUCCESS IS A RESULT OF HARD WORK
“If you want a good example of how hard work looks like, go look at that kid’s face, then you’ll see how hard work looks like,” said Kekana on the Pitchside Podcast.
“Put in the work, then the game will reward you. The English gurus will say, the craft will know how much you put in there. If you put 40 per cent don’t expect 100.
“Peter puts a lot [of hard work] in his game. 100 goals, didn’t just hit him, it’s not by mistake, it’s hard work. It takes discipline because smaller things add up on how you live your life, he’s selfless.”
SHALULILE’S QUALITIES OUTLINED
Present on the podcast as a guest was Shalulile’s teammate goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene. He stated one area where Shalulile has improved on besides scoring goals for fun.
“If he doesn’t score, he creates for other players to score which is important. That’s the other side of Peter where he has improved a lot,” said Mweene.
“Everyone knows Peter not only in South Africa so sometimes he’s tightly marked but he’s able to feed balls.”
So far this season, Shalulile has five assists in all competitions.
