Seema reveals what gives him Chippa survival hopes

Chippa United coach, Lehlohonolo Seema has revealed what gives him hope that the Chilli Boys will survive the relegation axe.

With three matches left to save their DStv Premiership status, Seema is optimistic that he will help the club save its top-flight status.

The Chilli Boys find themselves at the wrong end of the table, languishing second from bottom.

The 1-0 defeat to Kaizer Chiefs at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Thursday left them in danger. They are on 26 points from 27 matches, just a point ahead of 16th-placed Maritzburg United.

However, Seema has vowed to fight all the way to the end in his quest to try to save the club from being relegated.

LEHLOHONOLO SEEMA POSITIVE OF A CHIPPA UNITED SURVIVAL

Ahead of their journey to KwaZulu-Natal to face the struggling Richards Bay on Wednesday, Seema assured that it is not over as his team is capable of turning things around.

“We tried, there were more positives from the game, it is the game that makes me positive. It gives me hope that we will go to Richards Bay and fight to come out with positive points,” said Seema.

“This has been happening and it will take time. Rome wasn’t built in one day, and today they made even more entrance.

“I think at some stage Chiefs had to resort to staying back to absorb pressure, showing that the guys were playing.

Seema added: “We had two or three players that on a good day. They were 50 per cent or so and Etiosa (Ighodaro) upfront has been working hard, scoring goals. So Meshack (Maphangule) worked hard and got tired.

“But I think today Decide [Chauke] came in and put us in the next gear again, so that is what is better when you have a bench that can take you there.

“So yeah we will work on it, there is no time unfortunately when we get into the box it’s encouraging. I can’t teach how to score and decision-making. But we still have to score in one of these games, and we’ll go to Durban and come with three points. I’m very optimistic.”

FEAR OF LOSING HIS JOB?

The 42-year-old was also asked about the prospect of losing his job as is the trend at the club.

“I don’t know, I don’t know really. It’s a difficult one for me, and it’s not even a part of the game. We talk about the game, if it is nothing about the game, then it’s fine,” he said.

“Let’s finish it with a positive man, it’s not right for another human being to come and ask about that. If I turn this mic and put it on you, there are things that you don’t do it right.

“But you would rather not be asked about it, there are a lot of positives things we can talk about.”
