The four PSL stars Teko Modise admires
Former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Teko Modise has revealed the four DStv Premiership stars he admires.
Modise ended his successful career after retiring from professional football in 2019.
The Navigator as he was famously known, burst onto the scene in the early 2000s with City Pillars which earned him a move to SuperSport United in 2007.
Modise only played one season at SuperSport before scooping a big move to Orlando Pirates the following campaign.
The Soweto-born spent six seasons with the Buccaneers and won two Footballer of the Season awards in the process.
Modise fell out favour at Pirates and he was signed by Mamelodi Sundowns where he won a handful of trophies including CAF Champions League title in 2016.
TEKO MODISE OPENS UP ABOUT PLAYERS HE ADMIRES
With Modise being one of the respected names in South African football, the legend has singled out players he admires in the PSL.
“There lot of players I admire in the PSL,” Modise told Thabiso Mosia in an interview on Radio 2000.
“I mean there’s [Thembinkosi] Lorch, there’s [Sphelele] Mkhulise who can play so well against Al Ahly at his age. So there’s lot of players I admire.
“Themba Zwane makes football look easy, Lorch with his first touch and [Keagan] Buchanan with his long-range passing.”
Modise further revealed his relationship with Themba Zwane, who was his teammate at Sundowns.
“Themba Zwane was announced same day I joined Sundowns. He was shy but we became friends, I see similarities between us but there’s things he had that I wish I had,” he added.
Meanwhile, Sundowns have once again proven their Championship pedigree after clinching their sixth league title in a row.
The Brazilians have won a whopping 20 games, drawn five and lost just two times in 27 games played.
They also booked a place in the CAF Champions League semi-finals after beating CR Belouizdad 6-2 on aggregate.
