Super League: Durban Ladies blown away by Sundowns
In match-day 11 of the Hollywoodbets Super League, Durban Ladies were blown away in a 6-1 defeat against Sundowns Ladies.
Overall, the total of goals in the games played this weekend was 25.
DURBAN LADIES BLOWN OUT OF THE WATER BY SUNDOWNS
From the first minute of the game, Sundowns had Durban Ladies by the scruff of their necks.
The Sundowns’ front three had a couple of threatening opportunities which made their intentions known in the game.
In the ninth minute, Lebohang Ramalepe ended her dry spell at Sundowns, and scored the opening goal.
From there on, the floodgates were opened for Sundowns as they put four more goals past the Durban Ladies’ defense in the remainder of the first half.
In the 30th minute, Andisiwe Mgcoyi made it two from a squared-in ball from Boitumelo Rabale. Three minutes later, Melinda Kgadiete made it three from a lovely cross from Oratile Mokwena.
Four minutes, Lerato Kgasago made it four. And Just before half-time, in the 41st minute, Mgcoyi completed her brace and scored the fifth goal for Sundowns. By the end of the first half, Durban Ladies had no attempts at goal.
In the second half, Sundowns was still dominant but had reduced their tempo as compared to the first half.
Durban Ladies tried to assert themselves into the game, however their efforts where not enough. In the 85th minute, Ramalepe completed her brace, and scored the sixth goal for Sundowns.
Towards the end of the game, Durban Ladies finally got one back, making the final score line 6-1. Sundowns is second on 28 points and Durban Ladies is eighth, on 15 points.
THE REST OF THE SUPER LEAGUE RESULTS
UWC claimed three points away to TUT FC in a 1-0 victory. Therefore they will remain at the summit for another week.
JVW FC won 3-1 away City Lads. TS Galaxy Queens extended their winning streak against Thunderbirds, winning 2-0 away from home. This puts on 24 points, six points behind the log leaders.
Richmond United beat Copperbelt Ladies 1-0 at home. And Royal AM won 4-0 at home against relegation threatened Coal City Wizards.
In a relegation battle between First Touch and Ma-indies, First touch won 2-1 away from home. And finally, in a varsity clash, UJ FC and AmaTuks played to a 2-2 stalemate.
