John Maduka issues warning ahead of Orlando Pirates meeting
Royal AM head coach John Maduka has fired a warning to Orlando Pirates ahead of their DStv Premiership meeting.
The two sides will face off on Wednesday, 03 at the Orlando Stadium at 15:00.
The Buccaneers are flying high having won eight games on the trot across all competitions.
They’re favourites to end the season as runners-up, a position that would grant them a CAF Champions League spot in the next campaign.
They defeated TS Galaxy 2-1 in their last league match on Sunday while AM suffered a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Cape Town City on Saturday.
Maduka believes losing against the Citizens was a wake-up call ahead of the tough task against the Soweto giants.
The Malawian coach says every team is beatable in the league. He believes they can get the better of the in-form Buccaneers.
JOHN MADUKA ON ORLANDO PIRATES CLASH
“At the end of the day or at the same time, it [defeat] gives us a chance to redeem ourselves,” said Maduka.
“It gives us a chance to go and redeem ourselves. We win against Pirates, the confidence comes in again.
“I think everyone in this league is beatable.”
AM and Pirates have already locked horns twice this season. They first met in the league match which ended 1-0 in the Pirates’ favour.
They encountered again in the MTN8 quarter-final where Jose Riveiro’s side secured a 2-1 victory to go through to the semi-finals.
ROYAL AM EYEING TOP EIGHT SPOT
While Pirates are gunning for the second position, Thwihli Thwahla are chasing the top-eight spot as they seem to have avoided relegation.
With three games to play, Royal AM sit seventh on the log standings with 33 points accumulated.
Meanwhile, Pirates are second having collected 49 points in 27 games.
