PSL side cut ties with technical team member
A PSL side has cut ties with a technical team member with two games to spare.
Motsepe Foundation Championship outfit Venda Football Academy [VFA] has parted ways with Rowan Hendricks, who served in different positions during his tenure at the club.
Hendricks served as an assistant coach to Johnny Ferreira in the club’s first season in the second tier after purchasing Cape Umoya United status.
When VFA parted company with Ferreira in the second season, Hendricks was deployed as the club’s Head of Development, with Luvhengo Mungomeni taking over as an assistant to Michael Loftman, who is now Mamelodi Sundowns’ set play coach.
HENDRICKS’ PARTING WAYS’ WORDS
“My time at Venda Football Academy has come to an end,” said Hendricks.
“Happy to have been part of a very successful first year with Johnny Ferreira. The second season was one I would love to forget and now I have closed the chapter.
“Looking forward to the future and grateful for the lessons learned and experience gained.
“I wish the Club all the success for the future.”
The club recently let go of coach Simo Dladla who was put on suspension following a string of poor results.
Dladla joined the VFA in October last year. He took over the coaching reigns Loftman, who had tendered his resignation.
Now, the team is under the tutelage of well-travelled coach Joel Masutha.
Masutha has been praised for orchestrating VFA’s upturn in the second tier. He has saved the club from the relegation zone.
VENDA FOOTBALL ACADEMY’S POSITION
Currently, VFA occupy the 10th position on the log standings with 34 points from 28 outings.
The Vhembe-based outfit will play their last two games against league chasers Casric Stars and arch-rivals Black Leopards. Lidoda Duvha have been relegated from the league together with Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila.
