Relegated Leopards stars follow axed coach Owen Da Gama

Following the relegation of Motsepe Foundation Championship side, Black Leopards, several stars are leaving the club just a day after the axing of their coach Owen Da Gama.

As reported by FARPost on Tuesday, the club fired Da Gama with immediate effect. Da Gama took over in February with the expectation to save the situation. But it was a little too late for Lidoda Duvha.

Leopards were relegated to the SAFA lower leagues after 25 years in the PSL. Their relegation, alongside Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila, was confirmed with two matches to go.

Just a day after the axing of the veteran coach, several players are confirmed to be on the way out of the club.

TIKLAS THUTLWA AMONG RELEGATED LEOPARDS STARS LEAVING

This publication has now learnt that the club has also parted ways with star player Tiklas Thutlwa. The striker will leave with immediate effect and will not be part of the remaining games. Thutlwa has been a revelation for the Limpopo club since his days on the DStv Diski Challenge side.

He was promoted to the senior team following their relegation from the DStv Premiership in 2021. The 23-year-old became the Motsepe Foundation Championship’s top goal scorer with 16 goals last season.

This resulted in a huge interest and formal approach from Sekhukhune United and Marumo Gallants. There was also reported interest from Kaizer Chiefs.

But the player has had a season to forget this year with endless injuries. He also caused panic in the football fraternity after collapsing during a league match recently.

MORE PLAYERS TO EXIT RELEGATED MOTSEPE FOUNDATION CHAMPIONSHIP SIDE

Thutlwa is not the only player who is leaving the club with immediate effect. Club Captain Kenneth Nthatheni has also been shown the door. He joined Leopards from rivals Polokwane City in 2020.

This publication has also gathered that veteran goalkeeper Jackson Mabokgwane is also set to part ways with Leopards. FARPost has gathered that he was also not part of the training session on Wednesday.
