Sundowns coach Mokwena reacts to Ronwen Williams’ milestone
Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena has reacted to the recent massive milestone achieved by number one goalkeeper Ronwen Williams.
The Bafana Bafana number one put himself into the PSL history books following Sundowns’ 2-0 win against Marumo Gallants in the DStv Premiership in Polokwane over the weekend.
With the clean sheet on the night, Williams surpassed the record previously held by Moeneeb Josephs.
Josephs achieved 17 clean sheets during the 2009/10 season while at Soweto Giants, Orlando Pirates.
In just his first season since his much-publicised move from SuperSportt United, Williams has now kept 18 clean sheets this season.
The 31-year-old Williams took over the number jersey from former Ugandan international Denis Onyango at the beginning of the season and has not looked back.
He still has a chance of stretching the record to 19 when Sundowns play Maritzburg United in their final league match on 16 May.

“As I always say, individual records are only a reflection of the contribution of everybody. It’s a team performance, it’s a team record and I am very proud of the entire team and everybody at the football club,” he said.
Williams has been widely tipped to win big at the PSL end of the season awards due to his performances.
His peers have also taken to the Instagram social media platforms to offer messages of congratulations to Williams.
