SuperSport United star to miss crucial Kaizer Chiefs clash
SuperSport United will have to make do without one of their regular players in a clash against Kaizer Chiefs in the DStv Premiership on Saturday.
The match will take place at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium at 3 pm.
Gavin Hunt’s side is on the heels of the second-placed Orlando Pirates who’re likely to qualify for the CAF Champions League. Securing three points against Chiefs will be important for Hunt who’ll hope to leapfrog the Buccaneers if they happen to slip along the way.
KEGAN JOHANNES TO MISS KAIZER CHIEFS CLASH
However, he will be without the services of one of his crucial players when they square off with Amakhosi. The right-back Kegan Johannes won’t be available for selection as he will serve his one-match suspension.
He picked up his fourth yellow card during his side’s previous encounter against Stellenbosch last week.
However, Hunt has some options to replace the South Africa under-23 captain. One between Keenan Phillips and Siyabonga Nhlapo might get some minutes on the day.
WHY SUPERSPORT UNITED MOVED THE MATCH TO THE ROYAL BAFOKENG STADIUM?
The Tshwane-based side recently announced that their tie against Amakhosi will take place at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium at 3 pm.
The Matsatsantsa a Pitori are no longer using Lucas Moripe Stadium after PSL banned it from hosting its games. This is because the arena doesn’t meet the required safety standards anymore.
SuperSport hosted their past three home games at the Tshwane University of Technology Stadium.
BOTH TEAMS LOOKING TO GET BACK TO WINNING WAYS
Both teams will be seeking to get back to winning ways after dropping points in their respective previous games.
SuperSport drew 0-0 with the Stellies, lowering the chances of catching Pirates in the race to finish second. They currently sit third on the log standings with 48 points after 28 games.
Meanwhile, prior to losing the Nedbank Cup semifinal to Pirates in their last match, Chiefs had suffered a shock 2-1 defeat in the DStv Premiership at the hands of Swallows last week. They are fourth on the table with 44 points after 28 games.
