Dzvukamanja pinpoints turning point this season at Pirates
Orlando Pirates striker Terrence Dzvukamanja has weighed in on his turning point at the club in the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season.
Dzvukamanja struggled to break into the Pirates starting line-up at the start of the season under Jose Riveiro.
Riveiro was appointed as Pirates coach at the beginning of the season. He took over from co-coaches Fladu Davids and Mandla Ncikazi.
The Buccaneers had a flying start to life under the Spaniard. They lifted the MTN8 trophy a few months after the coach took over.
In addition, Pirates booked their spot in the Nedbank Cup final where they’ll face Sekhukhune United at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on the 27th May.
Pirates beat arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs in the Nedbank Cup semi-final last Saturday to move a step closer to clinching the second silverware of campaign.
Meanwhile, Dzvukamanja who has been in a good goal-scoring form for Pirates has explained what has been the turning point.

“People have been saying lot of things and as a human being, people will always talk. But for me it was not a big thing when people were taking about why I’m not playing,” said Dzvukamanja.
“I guess first round [of the season] I was injured, even pre-aseson I was injured. So the injuries were taking me down and when I tried to make myself available that’s when God helped me.”
The Zimbabwean international also credited the work done by the former finishing coach at Pirates Scott Chickelday for his improved form.
“We didn’t start well as strikers, for us not scoring maybe we were not doing lot of finishing,” he added.
“So in the first half of the season when the strikers coach came, he motivated us and gave us confidence.
Furthermore, Pirates will be looking to cement their place in the second spot on the league table when they face Sekhukhune United at Orlando Stadium on Saturday, 13th of May.
