Ayanda Dlamini: ‘As soon as I saw those referees…I knew’

AmaZulu FC head coach Ayanda Dlamini bemoaned matchday officials after they lost 1-0 to Golden Arrows in the DStv Premiership at the Princess Magogo Stadium on Saturday.

It was the second loss for Usuthu since ‘Cobra’ took over after Romain Folz was redeployed to the Technical Advisor role.

Meanwhile, with this win, Arrows made a double over Usuthu this season as they beat them 1-0 in the first round.

Dlamini says as soon as he saw the match officials led by the main referee Christopher Kistoor, he knew that they wouldn’t “stand a chance”.

He believes Kistoor and his assistants have been unfair to AmaZulu when they officiated their previous games.

He recalled the incident that happened when Usuthu lost 2-0 to Royal AM in January, where the referee awarded a goal to Thwihli Thwahla after Motebang Sera’s strike bounced off the crossbar.

However, later, the referee elected to chalk the goal off because the ball had not crossed the line.

“I’ll tell you, you will be surprised by what I said before the game started as soon I saw the referees, I knew that we don’t stand a chance,” said Dlamini.

“To be honest, as soon as I saw those referees, I told them and I don’t have a problem in saying…

“I told them because if I can give you the clips of the games they have officiated for us…at some point the referee gave the goal that was not the goal against Royal AM. He gave it as a goal.

“Alright, I’m not saying this because we lost. I’m just saying, throughout the year…I told them that at least we have one last game against Orlando Pirates.

“I hope that we get different people. But whenever they come to AmaZulu, I know…

“Especially it made it worse that the game was not on TV. So, you can complain but people don’t know what you are complaining about.”

AmaZulu will end their campaign with a tough home fixture when they welcome Orlando Pirates on Saturday, 20 May at 3 pm at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
