PSL veteran coach reveals Motsepe Foundation finale predictions
Veteran PSL coach Jacob Sakala has given his predictions for the Motsepe Foundation Championship title race finale.
The final round of matches will be played on Sunday, 14 May, with an exciting three-team race for automatic promotion.
Cape Town Spurs, Polokwane City and Casric Stars all have a chance to seal a place in next season’s DStv Premiership season. Spurs, though, have the upper hand and only need a win against the University of Pretoria.
Casric, who dropped crucial points at home to VFA last week, will be hoping Spurs drop points and they win against All Stars.
Polokwane City, on the other hand, will be hoping both Spurs and Casric drop points and they beat Pretoria Callies at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.
JACOB SAKALA’S FIRST DIVISION FINALE PREDICTIONS
Sakala, who has a long history of saving clubs from relegation and helping some gain promotion in the same division, has shared his views on how the league could pan out. Sakala was last attached to the Turfloop FC franchise but is now heading the Jacob Sakala Academy based in Johannesburg.
“I think amongst the second and third-placed positions, the log can change. But the first spot, no, they [Cape Town Spurs] are gone,” Sakala told FARPost.
“Even with the changes, both teams will play in the promotion playoffs. But for Spurs, they are gone. That one I can bet my life on.
“Their advantage is that they are playing with the 12th man, and I think all the supporters will come in numbers.”
Spurs are also on a drive to fill up the Athlone Stadium for Sunday’s match.
“But I must also say for Casric, it will be either a draw or a loss. But their best [against All Stars] will be a draw,” added the 68-year-old.
MOTSEPE FOUNDATION CHAMPIONSHIP RELEGATED TEAMS
The relegation teams are already confirmed, with Limpopo clubs Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila and Black Leopards both going down.
