‘Bonuses are given at management’s discretion’: Marumo Gallants
Marumo Gallants have issued a statement responding to the club’s alleged bonuses issue ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup semifinal second leg against Young Africans.
FARPost reported earlier today that players had refused to train due to outstanding bonus payments.
In a statement, Gallants denied the reports and stated the club pays performance bonuses at the “discretion of club management”.
MARUMO GALLANTS RESPOND TO CLUB’S BONUSES ISSUE
“In response to media statements being circulated regarding outstanding bonuses being owed to Marumo Gallants F.C. players, the club would like to confirm that:
▪ There are no outstanding bonuses owed / due to any Marumo Gallants players
▪ There are no outstanding salary payments owed / due to any Marumo Gallants
players,” the statement said.
“Performance bonuses and other payouts are done at the discretion of club management
based on several factors. The previous issuing of various bonuses does not guarantee the
delivery or timing of future bonuses.
“Cup qualifying bonuses and other payments issued to the club form part of the financial
management of the club. Demands by players for specific bonus amounts to be paid at
specific points in time are unfounded and damaging to the club, particularly ahead of
important matches.
“The focus of the club is on the upcoming matches, including the CAF Confederation Cup 2nd leg semi-final tomorrow, and we hope that the team will continue with the great performance
shown throughout the competition,” the statement added.
Bahlabani ba Ntwa will square off with the Tanzanian giants on Wednesday, 17 May at Royal Bafokeng Stadium at 6 pm.
