Under fire Arthur Zwane staying put, says Kaizer Chiefs
Under fire Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane is set to stay at the club beyond the 2022/23 DStv Premiership campaign, the club has confirmed.
Chiefs suffered their 11th loss of the season after going down 1-0 to SuperSport United at Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Saturday. In that case, the defeat meant that the club’s trohy drought continued.
Amakhosi missed out on the opportunity to finish in the top three to participate in the CAF interclub competitions next season.
The loss to SuperSport was met with heavy criticism by Chiefs fans, who threw objects at Zwane, demanding that he resigns. For that reason, the Soweto-born coach had to be escorted by police for protection.
With Chiefs faithful demanding that the Soweto-born coach get fired, the club’s communications manager Vina Maphosa said the club is not planning on firing Zwane.

Meanwhile, Maphosa also gave an update on Zwane’s injury after objects were thrown at him.
“I can confirm that the coach was injured after the game. He was hurt in the eye and received medical attention.
“He wasn’t hit by the object thrown by fans. However, he was injured by the shield of the police who were trying to protect him.”
