Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has spoken for the first time since he was attacked by the club’s supporters at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg.
Zwane was attacked and escorted to the tunnel by the police after furious Chiefs supporters threw objects at him.
The Amakhosi fans were expressing their anger and disappointment as their club is set to finish yet another season without silverware. In addition, Chiefs will miss out of the CAF inter-clubs competitions.
Over the weekend, Chiefs suffered their 11th loss of the season at the hands of SuperSport United. They also lost out on the opportunity to finish in the top three on the DStv Premiership log standings.
The Naturena-based side has had a difficult start to life under Zwane, who is in his maiden season as a first team coach.
Chiefs have managed to win 13 games in the league, drawing five and losing 11 times after 29 games played. They are currently positioned fourth on table with 44 points.
With Zwane sustaining an injury during the riot on Saturday, he was unable to address the media after the game. He has since addressed the public on Chiefs’ plans for the last game of the campaign.

“I’m looking forward to the game [against Cape Town City]. We never stop hunting as long as you are part and parcel of Kaizer Chiefs,” said Zwane.
“We always play to win and we want to finish the season on a high. We’ve had our ups and downs. We had moments where we were happy to see things come our way.
“And we also had moments that gave us sleepless nights in terms of not getting the results and also the number of injuries.
“So it’s been a learning season, a very difficult one but also a season that one can say from a new squad and new technical team, it was not bad at all. We are looking to improve things and get better,” he added.
Meanwhile, Chiefs will be looking to end the season with positive results when they face Cape Town City at FNB Stadium on Saturday, 13th of May. Kickoff is at 15:00.
