Mass exodus at PSL side: 9 players set for exit

A PSL will experience a mass exodus, with nine players set for the exit door ahead of the next transfer window.

With the 2022/23 National First Division [NFD] season over, players will soon be on the move.

FARPost can confirm that as many as nine players will be leaving Baroka FC.

The club’s chairman Khurishi Mphahlele confirmed that they were looking to shake up the squad ahead of next season.

PERFORMED BADLY

Bakgaga, who were relegated from the DStv Premiership in 2022, in the Motsepe Foundation Championship season in ninth place.

They won 11 wins and drew six in 30 matches. Baroka lost 13 of their encounters, falling far short of challenging for honours as they had anticipated.

“We performed badly this season. It was the worst season for us. I think ur recruitment was badly handled. We recruited badly at the start of the season,” Mphahlele told FARPost.

He said that towards the end of the season, they picked up form, but it was a little too late. 

“We have tried to fix it towards the end of the league. Things look better now. We’ll have to beef up there and there during the off-season.”

Furthermore, he spelt out the objective for next season, saying they had to fight to return to the top flight. 

MASS EXODUS AT PSL SIDE LOOMING

“The objective is clear next season. We must fight for promotion. We’re going to release a couple of players and refresh the team,” confirmed Mphahlele. 

FARPost can confirm that Carlton Masedi, Tebogo Moerane, Luciano van Heerden, Njabulo Hlela, Sifundo Dlamini, Msomi Mthobisi, Tino Smith, Mpho Lekalakala will be leaving the club.

“The club will be terminating the contracts of seven players.

“A source said they may sell Oscarine Masuluke if they reach an agreement with a PSL side that wants him.”

Meanwhile, Mphahlele believes they will bounce back stronger in the new season.
