Why Wydad are expecting a surprise package from Rulani Mokwena

Wydad Casablanca coach Sven Vandenbroeck has admitted that Rulani Mokwena’s Mamelodi Sundowns is unpredictable and has many surprises.

The Belgian mentor is infact expecting a suprise package from Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena.

They are set to clash at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria at 15h00 in the CAF Champions league semi-final second leg.

Wydad Casablanca were left to rue their failure to use home advantage in the first leg. They were held to a 0-0 in their backyard.

In that match, the Wydad Casablanca gaffer was left in awe after watching Rulani Mokwena’s men holding their own despite being two men down.

That was after Neo Maema, and Marcelo Allende were sent off on either half of the game.

WHY SVEN VANDENBROECK IS EXPECTING A SUPRISE PACKAGE

How Rulani Mokwena tinkered with his team, including sacrificing Themba Zwane, totally impressed coach Sven Vandenbroeck.

As a result, the former Simba SC gaffer is expecting more suprises from Rulani Mokwena.

The Mamelodi Sundowns coach has tactics that have often been likened to those of Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola.

“Coach Rulani [Mokwena] has been following Pep Guardiola for a long time. So he has a lot of variations,” Vandenbroeck said.

“In Morocco he tried one and I think he has another three or four, so its a lot of work. That’s why, two weeks or three days is not enough to prepare.

“You can give alot of information to players but you can not cover everything. So even in the game tommorow, we will be very concentrated on observing what they are doing.

“That is trying to finds solutions to everything. The problem in Morocco is that they were thousands. And even when you shout, they won’t hear you all the time.

“So we had to wait until half-time to rectify so things but then the red card means we didn’t have to rectify.

“We were one man more but i’m pretty sure tommorow, the opponents’ coach will suprise us again.”

The Red Castle are the defending CAF Champions League title holders.

They are smarting from an impressive record, having made it to the final four of the competition for eight successive seasons.

This means, coach Sven Vandenbroeck has a big point to prove in charge of a team he took over a fortnight ago. He replaced coach Juan Carlos Garrido.
