Another Bafana Bafana star wins league title abroad

In what will go down as one of best seasons for South African players abroad, another Bafana Bafana star has guided his side to the league title.

It’s been a successful campaign for several South African players abroad.

The likes of Percy Tau, Lyle Foster, Kobamelo Kodisang have been instrumental for their clubs and have won some silverware.

Foster’s Burnley were crowned the champions of the EFL Championship. The Bafana striker contributed to that success, despite only joining the club mid-season.

SOUTH AFRICAN PLAYERS SHINE

In Egypt, Tau is proving to be one of  Al Ahly’s best players this season. He has helped the club clinch the Egyptian Super Cup and the Egyptian Cup so far.

Kodisang also enjoyed a stellar campaign in the Portuguese second division. He guided FC Moreirense to the title and promotion to the top-flight. 

The latest Bafana star to win silverware abroad is winger Mihlali Mayambela who has clinched the Cypriot First Division title with Aris Lamassol.

Mayambela’s Lamssol will now contest in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers next season after winning their maiden Cyprus 1. Division title.

The Bafana star was one of Lamassol’s key players this season as he finished with four goals and three assists in 33 matches.

His side clinched their first title in their 93-year history after their closest rivals APOEL Nicosia were beaten 3-2 by Apollon on Sunday night.

BANYANA STAR WINS LEAGUE TITLE

Meanwhile, Banyana Banyana star Linda Motlhalo also won the Scottish Women’s Premier League title with Glasgow City on Sunday night.

The Banyana midfielder was again instrumental for City as they defeated their rivals Glasgow Rangers 1-0 to win the title.

Motlhalo set up the injury-time winner which swung the title in their favor and ended rivals Celtic’s challenge in what was a fierce title race.
