Celimpilo Ngema set to join new club on a free transfer

Marumo Gallants midfielder Celimpilo Ngema is set to move to another PSL outfit following the end of his contract at Bahlabani Ba Ntwa.

The 25-year-old midfielder has been one of the prominent figures for Raymond Mdaka’s men this season, helping the side to reach the CAF Confederation Cup semi-final.

In the last transfer window, he was heavily linked with a move to the Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs, however, it all disappeared into thin air following the end of the window.

Ngema will be donning an AmaZulu shirt next season according to a source close to the club.

CELIMPILO NGEMA SET TO JOIN AMAZULU

“Ngema will be playing at AmaZulu next season,” said a source. “He will definitely be of help in his position.”

It is understood that the former Uthongathi star penned a pre-contract with Usuthu months ago and will join the club on a free transfer.

With him departing, the club has already suffered relegation and will be competing in the Motsepe Foundation Championship next season. They are likely to lose more of their key players.

On Monday, 21 May, Ngema was honoured with the Player of the Year award at the Marumo Gallants Awards gala dinner after yet another impressive campaign with the club.

He joined Gallants in 2020 when they were still called Tshakuma Tsha Madzivhandila from the KZN’s second-tier side Uthongathi FC. He has made 100 appearances, scoring eight goals and providing seven assists for them.

AMAZULU TO DECIDE FUTURES OF SENIOR TEAM PLAYERS

Meanwhile, Usuthu are expected to decide the futures of some of their crucial team members. The vice-captain Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Lehlohonolo Majoro and Siphesihle Maduna’s contracts are coming to an end on 30 June.

Mphahlele, Majoro and Keagan Buchanan left AmaZulu in March after Romain Folz had asked the club to release them. However, Majoro was later recalled, with the club’s president Sandile influencing the decision.

Following the demolition of the French-Moroccan mentor, Mphahlele and Buchanan also returned to training. It remains to be seen what the future holds for the veterans.

Moreover, Maduna, who’s been missing in action lately, has been, at times linked to Amakhosi. This would be a perfect opportunity for them to snap him up as a free agent.
