Truter reveals the secret behind Gyimah’s form

Sekhukhune United coach Brandon Truter has revealed the secret behind Edwin Gyimah’s excellent form at the club in the 2022/23 season.

Gyimah has been one of the most consistent performers for Babina Noko this season, his second at the club.

He was recently rewarded with a nomination for the Nedbank Cup Player of The Tournament.

The Ghanaian has had a well-documented history of issues at his previous club in South Africa and was never shy to raise his displeasure.

But the 32-year-old has shown signs of being a more focused player under Brandon Truter.

“With what Edwin [Gyimah] has been through. We spoke about it and his belief in God as well; it carries him,” said Truter.

“With me just pushing him in the right direction and pushing the right buttons. He scored against Pirates last week, and he scored against SuperSport this week and those are his former clubs.

“So whatever he went through, he used it in a positive way. He is a big part and key figure in our changing room. I depend on him a lot and he also relies on me and can lean on me any moment. So it’s all about the management and respect for everybody in the club.”

RESPECT AMONGST THE TEAM

“It’s man management. Everybody is treated with respect here,” added Truter.

“It’s not a dictatorship per say but I do demand certain things from them, but respectfully. It’s how you manage them. These are big boys, married with children and families. It’s also youngsters either providing for the Gogos and whoever, they are head of households.”

Sekhukhune United will play their first-ever domestic Cup final when they take on Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday. The club has also secured a place in the CAF Confederation Cup.
