Ditlhlokwe speaks for the first time after signing for Kaizer Chiefs

SuperSport United defence stalwart Thatayaone Ditlhokwe has spoken for the first time since signing for Kaizer Chiefs.

The Botswana international’s move to Naturena was announced by the club in January. However, he remained at SuperSport to wind up his contract.

At the end of June, the man nicknamed ‘TT’ will switch allegiance to Amakhosi. The Zebras captain is very calm and steadfast ahead of his Chiefs sojourn. The highly-rated defender signed a four-year contract with Chiefs, who had a below-par season by their billing.

Ditlhokwe, the 24-year-old, will join the Soweto giants in July as his contract with SuperSport United lapses on 30 June.

WHAT SIGNING FOR KAIZER CHIEFS MEANS

And as he gears to plunge into the new challenge, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe has refused to bow down to talks of pressure at Kaizer Chiefs.

“One thing I can tell you, I can tell you that I’m a captain for the national team[Botswana]. I’m a player for the national team.

“I captained my national team at the age of 21, so I don’t think there is any pressure which can come more than I have already passed through.

“It’s just a normal challenge that every player can face. That’s why I said, for you to grow, you must be challenged. There is no player that has grown without being challenged.

“It’s a big test, I know, but the same way I managed here is the same way I’ll manage,” Thatayaone Ditlhokwe said.

ROSE TO STARDOM

The defence stalwart, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, joined SuperSport United from top Botswana side Township Rollers in January 2020.

At SuperSport United, he instantly rose to stardom while also becoming one of the most sought-after defenders.

At Kaizer Chiefs, the left-sided centre-back will compete for a first-team place with the likes of Edmilson Dove, Siyabonga Ngezana.

Thatayaone Ditlhokwe will join Arthur Zwane’s men along with another defence stalwart Given Msimango.

Given Msimango [26] was signed from TS Galaxy, where he was the team captain.
