SuperSport United CEO Stan Matthews has revealed how he has managed to kept his grip on Bradley Grobler, one of South Africa’s finest marksman.

Bradley Grobler has been one of the most consistent strikers in the PSL since joining SuperSport United in January 2013.

The 35-year-old is one of the few players that have managed to surpass the 100 goal mark.

And SuperSport United have had to pull strings to keep him since he has been their reliable goal-getter.

Season after season, clubs have knocked on the Matsatsantsa door for Bradley Grobler’s services.

The likes of Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs, have dismally failed to wrestle him away from the SuperSport United CEO.

Bradley Grobler has also had to shut out Orlando Pirates to remain at SuperSport United where he is one of the longest servers.

And after handing him the top goalscorer award, the SuperSport United CEO revealed the secret to keeping Bradley Grobler.

“Caring about the longevity of the player’s [Bradley Grobler] career and not rushing him and being patient with him when he needed operations. That has been key to keeping him.

“We have renewed Bradley’s contract, so he will stay on for the next season. So Bradley is in the bag with an option for a further year.

“Right now it’s about what we put besides him or ahead of him. He knows it because we have to manage his game time.

“Preserving them is key. Looking at a guys like Tyson [Thulani Hlatshwayo]. the impact that he has on the younger players off the field and having a guy like that is gold,” the SuperSport United CEO said.

The prolific striker, Bradley Grobler netted ten goals in 28 matches during the just ended season.

He was two goals behind the joint top scorers Peter Shalulile of Mamelodi Sundowns and Cape Town City’s Khanyisa Mayo.

His contributions were undoubtedly key for Matsatsantsa who finished the season in third place.

They were behind league winners Mamelodi Sundowns and second placed Orlando Pirates.

As a result, they will play in the continental inter-club competition, thus the CAF Confederation Cup along with Sekhukhune United.
