Orlando Pirates defender Sandile Mthethwa has opened up about what it would take for Jose Riveiro to win the PSL Coach of the Season award.
Pirates had an impressive run during the 2022/23 DStv Premiership campaign which saw them finish second on the log standings.
In finishing runners-up behind champions Mamelodi Sundowns, Pirates qualified for the CAF Champions League for next season.
The Buccaneers have already tasted silverware in the current campaign after winning the MTN8 final against AmaZulu FC at Moses Mabhida Stadium late last year.
Pirates won 16 games in the league, drawn six and lost eight times in 30 games played and they accumulated 54 points.
With Orlando Pirates finding their best form under Jose Riveiro, the Spaniard was rewarded with the Coach of the Season nomination.
Meanwhile, Mthethwa says they going all out to win the Nedbank Cup final help Riveiro win the prestigious Coach of the Season award.

“Coach Riveiro has done the good job in all the players. He’s thy coach who’ll give you a chance if you work hard,” said Mthethwa.
“So he always want the best in us, he believes in each and everyome that’s playing for Pirates.
“Individually I think he really helped me to be a hard worker and wait for my chance. Whenever he chose the guys[in the starting line-up] is because of the quality we have in the team.
“We definitely want to win the Nedbank Cup final to make him[Jose Riveiro] Coach of the Season,” Mthethwa added.
Furthermore, the 26-year old centre-back made 12 apparences in all competitions for Pirates. He scored a winning goal against Kaizer Chiefs in the Nedbank Cup semi-finals two weeks ago.
Pirates will face Sekhukhune United at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Saturday 27th of May in the Nedbank Cup final.
