Sibusiso Vilakazi outlines culture Sekhukhune is building

Former Bafana Bafana international Sibusiso Vilakazi has outlined the culture Sekhukhune United are building as they plan to topple Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup final.

Sekhekhune will play in their first ever final in SA’s topflight when they take on Pirates at Loftus in Pretoria on Saturday evening.

With that said, Vilakazi stated that he wants to be part of a team that creates history rather than just add numbers.

Sekhukhune is still a new side in the South African top-flight as they’re on their second season.

This is their best campaign so far after sealing a top eight finish, reaching the cup final and qualifying for the CAF Confederation Cup.

SIBUSISO VILAKAZI SAYS THEY WANT TO CREATE A CULTURE OF WINNING TROPHIES.

According to Vilakazi, winning the club’s first piece of silverware will help put the club on the map and build a reputation.

“We trying to put a stamp, trying to put a mark of history books,” said Vilakazi.

“We want to be the team having players coming on board because we win things. That’s the culture that we trying to build. The team is making history.”

“One has to say the team has a domain in terms of winning trophies and being successful.

HOW SIBUSISO VILAKAZI AND CO PLAN TO APPROACH THE FINAL

Heading into the showdown, the midfield engine nicknamed “Villa” believes the best way to get the desired result will be to play the game and not the occasion.

“I think what’s important is defending aggressively. [Orlando Pirates] it’s a team that finished second on the league, got the momentum and won the MTN8 cup.

“They were able to qualify for [CAF] Champions League and have quality players. We have to prepare ourselves how we going to defend better and how we going to attack better,” he added.

The Bucs and Babina Noko will be meeting for the third time this season.

In the previous two meetings in the league the Polokwane side claimed four points. They won 2-0 then drew 1-1 in the return leg.

The much anticipated cup final will take place on Saturday 27 May. Kickoff is at 6pm.
