‘I can’t take it anymore’ – PSL star cries out for help
A PSL star has reached a point where he feels neglected by his former side after suffering a severe foot injury back in 2021.
The player is now fearing he won’t be able to return from the injury as his former side are not willing to cover the costs of wire removal on his knee.
And since then, the injury has forced him to be on the sidelines for almost two years now.
The player in question is right-winger Jemondre Dickens, who claims that Chippa United are not willing to pay the costs of the wire removal on his knee.
Dickens joined the Gqeberha side in August 2021 from the Motsepe Foundation Championship side Baroka FC.
The player was very unfortunate as he suffered a severe knee injury in December 2021.
The sad part, the player had to spend two months with a broken knee before he could finally undergo an operation.
Dickens reckons that he has sent all the necessary documents to the club that states the cost of the wire removal.
He divulged that the costs amount to R50 000 of which the PSL side is yet to pay the doctor order for him to go ahead to remove the wire.
PSL STAR CRIES OUT FOR HELP
“I’m still waiting for them to pay for the removal of the wires. I still have the wires in my knee,” Dickens told FARPost.
“I have forwarded them the receipts stating how much it will cost for the wire removal. But they don’t say anything. I sent the documents in February this year and it’s now May.
“The costs they only paid were for the operation. But for the appointments and other things, I had to pay for them by myself.
“They did the operation last year in February, and my contract finished in June. When they told me that they are not going to extend my contract.
“I had to fly back to Cape Town, and that’s when I had to start paying for my own appointments and flights to Eastern Cape because after they said they not going to extend my contract, they just started to write me off.”
The 25-year-old footballer continued: “I took two months with a broken knee to get the operation done. And when I finally got to do the operation, the doctor told me that I’m going to be out for a long time because I took time to get the operation done. And the knee was starting to heal by itself and it took a lot of work to repair again.
“Now, I’m still sitting here with the wires in my knee and they are not responding. And the doctor is waiting for me to tell them that I have the money but I got nothing now.”
THE CURRENT STATE OF THE KNEE OF THE PSL STAR
“Now, I can do things with my knee, but the doctors want the wires to be removed so can go on with my life normally. But they can only remove the wires only if the club paid the money,” he added.
“I even spoke with the team manager. But he told me to speak to the relevant people who are involved in cases like mine.
It’s my second year now without a job. And it’s not easy. Even my parents are fed up with me being home doing nothing and I can’t help with anything. They are not used to me being home doing nothing .
“It’s really frustrating because I want to play again. But now I can’t because the wires must be removed.”
In his football career, the talented winger also played for TS Sporting.
FARPost attempted to get a comment from Chippa regarding the matter but our efforts were unsuccessful.
The club’s media liaison officer’s phone rang unanswered after this publication sent him messages on WhatsApp, which he read [blue-ticked] without responding.
