Soweto giants ‘whispering nice things’ in Bathusi Aubaas ears
TS Galaxy midfielder Bathusi Aubaas has reportedly caught the eye of Soweto giants Orlando Pirates.
The Bafana Bafana midfielder is contracted to the Rockets until 2025. In the just-ended season, he featured 26 times for the Tim Sukazi-owned outfit.
At least 20 of those were starts showing how much he was a vital cog in Sead Ramovic’s midfield as they finished the season in 10th place.
His ingenuity has not gone unnoticed, with Pirates facing the challenge of Sekhukhune United for his signature.
BATHUSI AUBAAS WANTED
“He’s wanted by both Sekhukhune United and Orlando Pirates, but it would seem Pirates are whispering nice things in his ears.
“But of course, he’s still contracted to TS Galaxy, and they will have a say on the whole thing,” said a source close to the player.
The source added that Pirates had indicated they would intensify their chase for the midfielder after the Nedbank Cup final.
The Buccaneers play Sekhukhune United in the Nedbank Cup final on Saturday, 27 May, at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
Interestingly, Bucs and Galaxy recently did business when Melusi Buthelezi crossed the floor to join the Soweto giants. The Bafana goalkeeper, Buthelezi, will play his football at the Buccaneers next season.
PLAYING CAF INTERCLUB FOOTBALL
On the other hand, Sekhukhune United will be playing in the CAF Confederation Cup alongside SuperSport United.
They are looking to bolster their squad ahead of the new season. Bafana coach Hugo Broos has called the 28-year-old to the national team ahead of next month’s AFCON qualifier against Morocco.
It is his second call-up as he joins eight other midfielders in Broos’ 34-man preliminary squad. The former Free State Stars linkman will be praying to make the cut and be selected in the final 23-man squad to play Bafana’s final AFCON 2024 qualifier.
