Bafana Bafana star Bongokuhle Hlongwane can’t stop shining in the MLS for his side Minnesota United.
The South African has been on fire this season so far in the United States of America, setting the MLS on fire with his performances.
He has been Minnesota’s star man this season, scoring some crucial goals for the Loons since the beginning of the campaign.
BONGOKUHLE HLONGWANE ON FIRE IN THE MLS
The former Maritzburg United star has found the back of the net on six occasions in all competitions for his side this season.
The 22-year-old was on fire again for the Loons as they bagged a crucial draw against Real Salt Lake at Allianz Field on Sunday morning.
His powerful shot at goal came off the post and then hit Salt Lake defender Justen Glad before going into the back of the net.
Hlongwane might not have been credited with the goal, but his contribution was vital to Minnesota walking away with maximum points.
The South African has been the Loons’ star performer in their past couple of games. He was again voted man of the match.
Hlongwane has scored two goals in the Loons’ last four matches. The speedy winger has contributed immensely to their recent win over Salk Lake.
The win saw Adrian Heath’s charges grab their 19th point of the campaign. They currently occupy sixth place on the table in the Western Conference.
The Loons came into the clash against Salt Lake smarting from a heavy defeat against Houston Dynamo in the US Open Cup.
Hlongwane’s Minnesota were thumped 4-0 by Dynamo in a cup game last time out. The result would have dented their confidence.
However, they quickly shook off that heavy defeat and earned a crucial point against a difficult opponent on the day.
NJABULO BLOM BACK TO HIS BEST
Meanwhile, Hlongwane’s compatriot Njabulo Blom played the full 90 minutes of St Louis City FC on Saturday. They eased their way to a 3-1 victory over Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
The former Kaizer Chiefs midfield strongman seems to have put his struggles with injuries behind him. He is now becoming a regular starter for Bradley Carnell’s side.
