ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs draw conducted
The 2022/23 ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs draw was conducted at SAFA House on Monday, 29 May 2023.
KwaZulu-Natal is set to host the 2023 National Playoffs from 5-11 June 2023.
The draw for the round robin fixtures was conducted at SAFA House and will see three groups of stages take place at King Zwelithini, with the Semis and finals to be played at Sugar Ray.
So far, eight provinces have confirmed their representatives at National Playoffs. However, it is only in the Free State province where they are yet to confirm their representative due to a pending case.
Amavarara, Young Bafana, Mpeni Home Defenders, Umsinga United, Dondol Stars, Obrit College, Mlambo Royal Club, Upington City and the Free State side yet to be confirmed were placed in pots in order to complete the draw of the three groups.
And two finalists will gain automatic promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
All other participants of the National Playoffs will return to their provincial leagues.
Last season, we saw NB La Masia of Gauteng and Magesi from Limpopo secure promotions to the South African football second tier.
Dondol Stars are favourites to win the National Playoffs following their good run in the 2023 Nedbank Cup.
The amateur side beat SuperSport United in the Nedbank Cup last 32 and went on to do the same to AmaZulu in the Round of 16 before succumbing to defeat to Pirates.
SAFA and Motsepe Foundation have been in a 10-year partnership and the two parties are now in negotiations to extend their relationship.
The SAFA Vice President showed appreciation to the Foundation for the great partnership.
