Kgoloko Thobejane issues ‘come get me plea’
Former Baroka FC coach Kgoloko Thobejane has issued a ‘come get me plea’ to local clubs.
Thobejane resigned as head coach of North West ABC Motsepe League side Som FC in February.
This was just four months into the job, as he cited interference from management.
The club had just roped in former Orlando Pirates Lebogang Mothibantwa as an assistant coach. Apparently, Thobejane was not impressed by the appointment of the ex-Buccaneer.
KGOLOKO THOBEJANE WAS ON TRACK
At the time, Thobejane was on track to guide the team to the Motsepe Foundation Championship promotional play-offs.
He had won seven out of nine games in Stream A, and they were two points behind log leaders Orbit College.
At the end of the season, they were nine points adrift of Orbit, who eventually won Stream A after 14 games.
Since leaving the club, Thobejane has had to sit it out at home while waiting for his next opportunity.
“I’m still waiting for a chance [to return to the dugout],” Thobejane told FARPost.
Regarding his future, Thobejane said there was nothing concrete at the moment, and his future lay with clubs.
“In terms of the future, the future lies with the clubs. If they need me, I’m free. I’m ready for any challenge at any given time. I don’t have a contract with anyone,” he added.
THE CHALLENGE IN THE MDC
Thobejane believes the challenge with Som United FC was similar to his experience in the PSL. “The challenge in the MDC is the same as the highest level in the PSL.”
Meanwhile, Orbit College kick off their ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs with a tie against Mlambo Royal Cubs on 6 June 2023 at the Woodburn Stadium.
On the same day, Amavarara takes on Young Bafana while Dondol Stars face UMsinga United. The semi-finals will be played on Friday, 9 June 2023, at Harry Gwala Stadium, with the final set for the same venue on 11 June 2023.
