The ten players whose market value rose significantly
Following the end of the 2022/23 season, ten players, including an Orlando Pirates star, had a sharp increase in their PSL market value.
DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns have three key players that made good strides on the market.
Orlando Pirates star Monnapule Saleng is first on the rankings, after earning a significant R9.8 million increase.
According to transfermarkt, Monnapule Saleng market value is now pegged at R25 million.
The Orlando Pirates star a trailblazing seasoon with Buccaneers where he scored 11 goals in 22 DStv Premiership matches.
He played a pivotal role in helping the team earn a CAF Champions League slot, MTN8 Cup and the Nedbank Cup success.
Monnapule Saleng was then named the MTN8 Last Man Standing after helping Pirates with the prestigious title.
Joint DStv Premiership top goalscorer Khanyisa Mayo has the second highest increase in market value, as according to transfermarkt.
The Cape Town City striker’s PSL market value rose to a staggering R21 million. Mayo shared the top scorer award with Peter Shalulile who also scored 12 goals.
Teboho Mokoena, who sealed a sterling season with Sundowns by clinching two PSL awards for the 2022/23 season, has the third highest increase in PSL market value.
Mokoena is undoubtedly invaluable, and his impressive statistics saw his value raise by R8.4 million to R 42 million.
WHO ARE THE PLAYERS WHOSE MARKET VALUE ROSE?
The highly-rated and calm midfielder scooped the Footballer of the season award and Midfielder of the Season accolade.
In the DStv Premiership Mokoena has been a shining star since switching from SuperSport United to Mamelodi Sundowns.
Defender Given Msimango who is set to join Kaizer Chiefs had an impressive increase on the market to R 18.9 million.
Kaizer Chiefs’ Ashley Du Preez is also part of the list following a significant increase to R21 million.
Ashley Du Preez was key for Amakhosi albeit their botched campaign as he contributed nine goals since joining from Stellenbosch.
Sundowns top performers Neo Maema and Khuliso Mudau had their market rise to R25 million and R23 million respectively.
Stellenbosch star Iqram Rayners’ market value also rose by R7 million to R23 million while Olwethu Makhanya’s market value rose to R 9 million.
Chippa United striker Etiosa Ighodaro’s PSL market value significant rose to R 13 million. The Nigerian scored 11 goals in competitions for the Chilli boys.
