Stellenbosch FC close in on a Zimbabwean winger

DStv Premiership side Stellenbosch FC is closing in on a Zimbabwean winger who was a top performer in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Stellenbosch are likely to lose Junior Mendieta and Iqraam Rayners, targeted by the big guns in SA’s topflight.

Mamelodi Sundowns are said to have opened transfer talks with Stellenbosch FC for midfielder Mendieta services.

Iqraam Rayners has also emerged as a top priority target for Soweto giants, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs.

And Stellenbosch will look to fill-in the void if the two players are lured out of the Cape Town based club.

And Zimbabwean winger, Ishmael Wadi is one of their targets to the fill the void. Initially, four clubs registered their intrests in the Zimbabwean striker.

The clubs include AmaZulu, Sekhukhune United and Cape Town City. However the Stellenbosch appear to have struck the right chords with Ishmael Wadi’s management.

The speedy forward, Ishmael Wadi has been the highest scoring Zimbabwean in the South African football landscape.

And it came as no suprise that he is a wanted man, especially after a move to AmaZulu collapsed at the eleventh hour in January.

During the just ended season, the Zimbabwean winger was a shining beacon for JDR Stars, after scoring 12 goals. He was the club’s top goalscorer.
