Teboho Mokoena: ‘I will always do the dirty work for the team’
Mamelodi Sundowns midfield maestro Teboho Mokoena has revealed the other role he’s playing in helping the club succeed.
Mokoena had a great second season with the Tshwane giants as he played an important role in helping the team clinch yet another DStv Premiership title [sixth consecutive title] and reach the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League.
The 26-year-old was one of the players who played many games last season. The midfielder nicknamed “Tebza” made 38 appearances in all competitions. He was directly involved in four goals; scoring two and providing two assists.
For his efforts on the field of play, the Bafana Bafana international won big at the PSL Awards recently. He scooped two awards namely the Footballer of the Season and the Midfielder of the Season.
He out-shined other two contenders, the duo of teammate Ronwen Williams and Orlando Pirates star Monnapule Saleng to the award.

According to Mokoena, his tries his utmost best to help the team wherever he can, be it scoring or assisting.
“I will always do the dirty work for the team, score, and assist when needed, but I know there are players that will do that,” relayed the Masandawana utility player.
“My job is to protect the team and defend because I know that the players in front of me will score. My target for this season was to play regularly and perform well.”
Following his successes in the just ended season, the Mokwena vowed to come back stronger in the 2023/24 season.
He further singled out talented and experienced attacker Themba Zwane for praise for helping him better his game.
