Ex-Mourinho assistant targeting a former Orlando Pirates star

Former Jose Mourinho assistant Baltermar Brito has expressed interest in the services of a former Orlando Pirates winger, FARPost has learnt.

The Highlanders coach, Baltermar Brito has done plausibly well in Zimbabwe’s PSL this season.

In fact, the 71-year-old has had the Bulawayo giants believing again having last won the Zimbabwean league title in 2006.

Under Baltemar Brito, Highlanders remain the only team yet to taste defeat in the 2023 season. Only 12 rounds of fixtures have been played so far.

As it stands, they are second on the log standings, with 22 points, one point behind leaders Ngezi Platinum.

To strengthen his team, the well-travelled coach is targeting a former Orlando Pirates winger, whose last stint was at SuperSport United.

WHO BALTERMAR BRITO IS TARGETING

And FARPost has been informed that Baltermar Brito and his technical team are targeting Kudakwashe Mahachi.

“For South African teams, there is nothing but I can confirm that Highlanders have made an inquiry.

“They want him to join the team during the June window. Like I have always said, we are not rushing because we want the best possible club for him,” Gibson Mahachi, his agent said.

Mahachi’s last stint in the DStv Premiership was at Matsatsantsa where his contract was terminated.

Last year, the speedy attacker found himself at the centre of a storm when he was accused of attempting to murder his son.

The ex-Orlando Pirates winger was acquitted in November after Zimbabwean courts cited a lack of evidence to substantiate the case.

Since then, the former Soweto giants winger has struggled to find a new club. He was at some point linked with Maritzburg United but nothing materialised.

Meanwhile, the agent also revealed that one of Mahachi’s former clubs, Chicken Inn has also expressed interest.

The 30-year-old spent two years at Chicken Inn before swapping to Highlanders in January 2014. He then joined Mamelodi Sundowns in July 2014.

The former Orlando Pirates winger also played for Golden Arrows in the DStv Premiership.
